U
rgent care centers and hospital
emergency rooms (ER) offer some
of the same services, but they’re
not the same. Understanding the differ-
ences can help you choose the appropriate
care for your situation.
ERs are equipped with standby surgical
teams and specialized expertise and equip-
ment, which makes treatment in an ER
more expensive than in urgent care. Also, if
you go to an ER for an illness or injury that
doesn’t demand immediate attention, you
may face a long wait while life-threatening
conditions are treated rst.
T
he commit-
ment made
more than 50
years ago to serve
the Tri-Valley com-
munity with techno-
logically advanced and
personalized health
care continues today.
Because ValleyCare is
the gateway to health
for the Tri-Valley, we
are constantly working
to improve access for
our community members. In addition to the
many services available on our Livermore and
Pleasanton campuses, ValleyCare recently
opened a clinic inside the Livermore Walmart
and expanded urgent care and occupational
health services to Dublin.
This past April, ValleyCare opened an
additional urgent care center and relocated
the occupational health services department
to 4000 Dublin Blvd., Suite 150—at the inter-
section with Tassajara Road.
By adding this urgent care center, we are
making it easier for residents of Dublin
and the surrounding community to receive
immediate care when their doctors’ of ces
are closed. We also hope to ease the burden
on our emergency room (ER). Many ER
visits are not true emergencies and could be
handled by an urgent care center. Urgent care
services are also less costly, and you may nd
yourself with a shorter wait than in the ER,
where patients with serious and life-threaten-
ing situations are given priority.
Consolidating our occupational health
services into this state-of-the-art facility
offers our clients and employees one central
location for the care of workplace injuries
and illnesses. With urgent care services in the
same building, after-hours care is also more
convenient, with a larger reception area,
more patient rooms and easy access—the
facility is right off Interstate 580.
ValleyCare has been looking forward to
this expansion, and we are pleased to be part-
nering with the City of Dublin to help meet
our growing community’s health care needs.
